  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Reputation score (calculated from community ratings)

Location Data

  • GPS Coordinates: Collected when you add books to show their location on the map.
  • Real-time Location: Used only while the app is active to display nearby books.
  • Control: You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.

Book Listings

  • Titles, authors, ISBN numbers, and photos of books you upload.
  • Book condition, category, pricing, and approximate location coordinates.

Communication Data

  • Messages sent through our platform, swap requests, responses, ratings, reviews, and feedback.

Payment Information

  • Payment processing is handled securely by Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  • We do NOT store your credit card details. We only store transaction records (purchase type, date, amount).

2. What We DON’T Collect

Unlike many platforms, we prioritize data minimization. We do NOT collect:

  • Device identifiers or hardware information.
  • App usage analytics or behavioral tracking data.
  • Crash reports or diagnostics (beyond standard secure server logs).
  • Third-party advertising data or browsing history.
  • Contacts or photos stored outside of the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information strictly to:

  • Maintain your account and enable messaging between users.
  • Display book listings on the interactive map.
  • Process swap requests and premium feature purchases.
  • Send relevant notifications and calculate reputation scores.
  • Prevent fraud and ensure platform safety.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (a PostgreSQL database).

  • Encryption: All data transmissions are encrypted using SSL/TLS.
  • Hashing: Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
  • Storage: Photos are stored in secure Supabase Storage buckets with restricted access.

Publicly Shared: Your username, profile photo, reputation score, and book listings (approximate location only) are visible to other users. Private Data: We never share your email address, exact GPS coordinates, wishlist, or block list with other users. No Selling of Data: We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties or share your data with advertisers.

7. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of your data.

How to Delete Your Account

To delete your account and all associated data:

  2. Request account deletion from your registered email address.
  3. We will process your request and permanently remove your data (listings, profile, and messages) within 30 days.

Book Bound is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us for immediate removal.

9. International Users

Book Bound is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the service from abroad, your data will be transferred to and stored in the U.S. By using the service, you consent to this transfer.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what information is collected, the right to request deletion, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information.
